Here  are#7 life lessons from Sushant Singh Rajput

#1: Convert Dreams Into Reality

Sushant quickly realised his love for self-exploration. So right from his college days, he started attending Shiamak Davar‘s dance classes.

He studied in the morning and attended classes at night.

And then, because he had to move to Mumbai, he quit college to pursue his dreams. He chased his dreams and made them come true.

#2: Find Your True Voice

Not everything is rosy as it seems. Sushant had a strong reason to move away from studies. Deep down, like of all us, he wanted to find his voice.

And he found acting as his true voice.

In one of the interview, Sushant revealed:

I have this inability to express myself in front of complete strangers, which was very painful for me. And this happens to a lot of people who can’t express themselves in their normal lives.

And then goes onto explain:

But somehow once they get a medium, they are willing to make fool of themselves in front of many people. They suddenly find a voice. Acting was that voice for me.

#3: Be the Best

Be the best good at anything you do.

Even as a student, Sushant Singh Rajput secured AIR 7. He also cleared 10+ engineering entrance exams.

And if that’s not enough, he even bagged the National Olympiad Winner medal in Physics.

He then passed the same energy into his acting career and turned from nothing to something.

#4: Never Give Up

In fact, moving to Mumbai Sushant discovered the world of bollywood requires connection — or hard work. So he selected hard work and started from the bottom.

Sushant started as a television actor.

It took him 500+ television episodes before signing up for his first film.

Imagine: 500+ episodes!

#5: Choose “Total Immersion”

How?

For the M.S. Dhoni movie role, Sushant watched Dhoni’s videos for days and weeks together. In fact, it came to the point that Sushant subconsciously started picking up subtle points and nuances — like Dhoni’s smile, way of walking, helicopter shots, and so on.

After 4 months, people said:

“You actually have something in common with Dhoni.”

But it doesn’t stop here.

Sushant approached Dhoni to understand more:

  • “The first time, I asked Dhoni to tell me his story.
  • “The second time we met, I had prepared a set of 250 multiple choice questions to understand him better.”
  • “And the third time we met, I asked him about his strengths.”

He even practiced the helicopter shot 225 times a day. Now this is total immersion, isn’t it? Let’s do everything in life with such intensity!

#6: Consistently Upgrade Yourself

Sushant joined dancing classes as a teenager but wasn’t the finest dancer. And then he participated in Zara Nachke Dikha — a dance reality show in 2009.

Next year he was in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4.

This was the time Madhuri Dixit as a judge saw his dancing skills and asked him to teach her dancing.

And then he was chosen as one of the dancers at the 51st Filmfare Awards.

It is not just dancing and studying but also martial arts and ballet. Sushant learned it all.

He was also fond of books and enjoyed learning about human behaviour and cognitive psychology.

What does this teach us?

Life is all about doing things you love and constantly upgrading yourself one day at a time.Keep learning!

#7: Perform Your Duties For Happiness

In an Instagram post, Sushant talked about happiness and how to attain it:

Knowledge brings humility; from humility comes worthiness; with worthiness one attains wealth; with wealth ONE is able to perform his duties in a better way; and in performing his duties one attains happiness

Sushant always chose roles that changed his perspective towards life.

The key was to perform your duties. And he performed it so well that left Sachin Tendulkar puzzled.

There’s a story that goes like this: Kiran More and Tendulkar were speaking on the practising net.

And Sushant was practising on the other side.

Then Kiran comes back smiling to tell Sushant:

Do you know what Sachin Tendulkar was asking?”

Kiran revealed Mr. Sachin saw Sushant batting and asked: Which team does he play for?”

Highest form of compliment, isn’t it? Simply because Sushant religiously performed his duties!

Bonus Wisdom: Live In The Moment

Whatever happens, now is all we have.

And Sushant shared this secret:

“I realised it when I started filming, is that I don’t obsess about the future. I don’t have goals… I don’t take myself seriously and that is what drives me”

“It’s the journey that matters more than the destination. Right now is very important.”
